Delegates Demand House of Peoples Session: This is a Path to Totalitarianism

(Patria) - Five delegates in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who submitted a request for a session of the House of Peoples yesterday, held a press conference, and one of them, Denis Bećirović, reminded that at the beginning of October he sent an invitation to the then-Chairman Bakir Izetbegović, and in November to the current one, Dragan Čović, to convene a session.

"I received no response. This concerns primarily the legal aspect. The Dayton Peace Agreement, with none of its annexes, allows for the blocking of the state parliament," Bećirović emphasized.

Along with Bećirović, the session is also requested by Zlatko Miletić, Asim Sarajlić, Munib Jusufović, and Asim Fazlić. Fazlić stressed that the Bosniak Caucus fully supports this initiative.

The rules of procedure of both houses clearly state that sessions must be held once a month.

"The duties of delegates are known. There is also an ethical code. What is happening is quasi-parliamentarism, unconstitutionality, illegality; it is a path to totalitarianism. Those who obstruct have two options: to work in parliament or in the woods. This is an attack on the legal order in BiH; individuals want to usurp the will of the people. Either start working or resign. Otherwise, we have options B, and even C; there are mechanisms. At this moment, we want to exhaust all possibilities offered by the rules of procedure," said Bećirović.

Miletić sent a message to the Collegium of the House of Peoples.

"We demand that all three members of the Collegium convene a session. They are behaving like pharaohs. In the 34 months of this convocation of the House, we have not had a session for 17 months. The last session was held on July 1st," said Miletić.
