HDZ delegates to break quorum at tomorrow's session, can only come once Čović takes over chairmanship of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly on June 16

(Patria) - Although the 32nd emergency session of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly was scheduled for tomorrow, June 11, with only one item on the agenda, the session will not take place. Delegates of HDZ BiH from the Croat Club, Marina Pendeš, Dragan Čović, and Zdenko Ćosić, will not attend the session, and the two remaining delegates are insufficient for a quorum, as at least three delegates from each Club must be present.

The delegates were supposed to consider the Report on achieving an identical text of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Salaries and Allowances in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, submitted by the Joint Commission for Harmonizing the Text of the Proposal for the Law on Amendments to the Law on Salaries and Allowances in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, number: 01,02-02-1628/25 of May 18, 2026. This concerns amendments to the Law that would enable retroactive payment of salary differences to employees in BiH institutions and police agencies after the adoption of the BiH Institution Budget from January 2026, when the basis for salary calculation was increased. Until the Budget is adopted, employees in BiH institutions cannot receive a salary increase.

The Chairperson of the Croat Club in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Marina Pendeš, sent a letter yesterday to the Chair of the House, Kemal Ademović, informing him that HDZ delegates will not attend the session due to previously assumed obligations, and that they can come to the session only on June 16.

Coincidentally or not, that very day coincides with the rotation at the head of the House of Peoples, when Dragan Čović becomes the Chair.

In her letter, Pendeš requests that Ademović schedule an emergency session for June 16 in the afternoon hours.
