Delegation of the Government and Assembly of ZDK in Vareš: Focus on Infrastructure and Development Projects

(Patria) - A delegation of the Government and Assembly of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK), led by Prime Minister Nezir Pivić and Assembly Speaker Ćazim Huskić, visited the municipality of Vareš today.

On that occasion, a meeting was held with representatives of Vareš - acting mayor Malik Rizvanović, Municipal Council Speaker Igor Šimić, their associates, and directors of public companies.

Acting Mayor of Vareš Municipality Malik Rizvanović, who was recently appointed to this position following the death of the previous mayor Zdravko Marošević on December 4, 2025, informed the guests about the current situation in Vareš, as well as priority projects they plan to propose to the ZDK Government.

It was highlighted that the Municipality of Vareš faces significant financial difficulties that hinder regular functioning, and Rizvanović emphasized that the visit of ZDK Government representatives represents great encouragement for the local community.

Among the priority projects mentioned are an increase in the concession fee for the company DPM Metali (Mine), reconstruction of the regional road from the roundabout at the entrance to Vareš to the settlement of Ljepovići, reconstruction of sections of the regional roads Vareš-Pogar-Ratan and Vareš-Podkamensko, remediation of the Stavnja riverbed through the urban area of Vareš, construction of a dam for accumulation and regulation of the Stavnja river flow, the thermal insulation project of the Vareš Health Center, as well as replacement of asbestos pipes on the "Lakoća mlin" water supply system.

- We discussed important projects for this local community and received information about the situation in the municipality. We are sorry that Vareš, despite its great potential and the strong spirit of its people, faces economic problems.

The ZDK Government is at its disposal to, in accordance with possibilities, provide support through various projects and activities in the coming period. We pay special attention to less developed municipalities and believe that Vareš deserves stronger institutional support - stated Prime Minister Pivić.
