Delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe from BiH at the Congress in Strasbourg

A delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe from BiH is attending the 29th session of the Congress in Strasbourg from October 20-22. The focus of the session is on refugees and migrants, youth participation, and local and regional democracy in Europe, reports the Patria News Agency.

Today, as part of the first session, the delegation attended a meeting organized by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland. Given that BiH presides over the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe until November 10, 2015, the meeting discussed how our country can use its current presidency to move closer to EU membership, as well as the current political situation in BiH.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Igor Crnadak, in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, delivered a speech at today's session on the topic of preventing radicalization, and hosted a photo exhibition titled "Tastes and Light of Herzegovina" organized for all participants of the three-day session.

The delegation, led by the Head of the BiH delegation, the Minister of Administration and Local Self-Government in the Government of Republika Srpska, Lejla Rešić, also includes: Deputy Head of Delegation - Vice-President Milan Dunović, Secretary of the Delegation - Vice-President of the FBiH Melika Mahmutbegović, and delegation members - Mayor of Mrkonjić-Grad Municipality Divna Aničić and Mayor of Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality Semir Efendić, according to a statement from Dunović's office.
