Delegation of the City of Sarajevo meets with Pope Francis

A delegation of the City of Sarajevo, led by Mayor Abdulah Skaka, at the invitation of the Apostolic Nuncio in BiH, Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto, is visiting the Vatican, reports the Patria agency.

In addition to the Mayor, the delegation includes the President of the City Council Igor Gavrić, Deputy Mayors Ivica Šarić and Milan Trivić, and former Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić.

After the General Audience, members of the delegation met with Pope Francis and thanked him for supporting the multi-ethnic way of life in Sarajevo and BiH. Pope Francis responded that this is the only and right path. He emphasized that we are all brothers, that he prays for us, and called on us to pray for him as well.

Pope Francis urged that we continue to preserve the multiculturalism and multi-confessional character of Sarajevo, for which the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina has always been known.

Mayor Skaka is the first Mayor of Sarajevo to visit the Pope in the Vatican.
