European Parliament delegation visited the BiH Central Election Commission

(Patria) - President of the Central Election Commission of BiH Mr. Željko Bakalar and Irena Hadžiabdić and Suad Arnautović, members of the BiH CEC today at the headquarters of the Central Election Commission of BiH in Sarajevo met with a delegation of the European Parliament consisting of Tineke Strik (Greens/European Free Alliance), Dietmar Koster (MEP, Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats) and Ms. Gesa Storz (advisor, Greens/European Free Alliance).

During the meeting, the Initiative for the Adoption of the Law on Amendments to the Election Law of BiH, which the Central Election Commission of BiH submitted to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH on 16.09.2021, was presented.

The discussion focused on improving the integrity of the election process, and the European Parliament delegation was particularly interested in the opinion of the Central Election Commission of BiH on the implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. Support was expressed at the meeting for the activities of the Central Election Commission of BiH in improving the electoral system and election legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
