EU Delegation in BiH: Coordination Mechanism accepted by all sides during previous talks

Spokesperson of the EU Delegation in BiH Zora Stanić stated for the Patria news agency (NAP) that the EU Delegation and the Office of the EU Special Representative welcome the agreement on the Coordination Mechanism reached at the meeting on July 31.

- It is the result of a constructive debate between entity prime ministers, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, and the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović and the President of RS Milorad Dodik. The leaders showed readiness to find solutions through which the country could further progress on the path to the EU.

The solutions reached fully reflect the key principles that all sides accepted during previous talks on the Coordination Mechanism, which entail respect for the constitutional structure of BiH and decision-making by consensus, while simultaneously preventing the blocking of processes.

In this sense, the agreed model fully respects and reflects the role of all levels of government, including the level of BiH, entities, cantons, and the Brčko District.

In legal terms, the agreement will be subject to the usual adoption procedure, Stanić emphasized in her statement to NAP.
