The EU Delegation to BiH and the Office of the EU Special Representative call on the BiH authorities to urgently adopt the Proposal for a Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism, as well as amendments to the Criminal Law, which will contain Moneyval recommendations and improve the anti-money laundering system, said Andy McGuffie, spokesperson for the EU Delegation in Sarajevo, for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).
The proposed law in the procedure is, as he states, harmonized with leading international instruments in this area, especially with the 40+9 Recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), two relevant Council of Europe conventions, and the Third EU Directive.
- At a time of great financial needs and when large amounts of donations need to be sent through the international banking system, it would be a shame if complications arise with sending money to or from Bosnia and Herzegovina - says McGuffie.
The Delegation of the European Union and the Office of the EU Special Representative in BiH once again emphasize the need to urgently adopt the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism and amendments to the Criminal Law, added McGuffie for Patria.
