Directorate delegation at the 89th Interpol General Assembly

(Patria) - The delegation of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Director Mirsad Vilić, represents Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 89th session of the Interpol General Assembly, which is being held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, from November 23 to November 25, 2021.

Almost 470 police chiefs, ministers, and high-ranking officials from about 160 countries are participating in the General Assembly, with representatives of international organizations attending as observers. It is planned that a new president of Interpol, a vice president for Africa, America, and Asia, delegates for Africa, America, Asia, and Europe, and members of the Interpol File Control Commission will be elected at this year's assembly.

Within the General Assembly, the delegation held several bilateral meetings with representatives and police directors of neighboring countries, with the aim of improving police cooperation and its modalities, especially regarding new security challenges. On the sidelines of the assembly, the delegation also held a series of meetings with representatives from China, Pakistan, Turkey, R. Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Armenia, Singapore, and Sweden, during which new crime trends and the global security situation were discussed, in the context of identifying areas where Interpol can strengthen global security operations through joint action by member state police forces.

The delegation also participated in the workshop "Police Operations and Technologies and Joint Investment in the Future of Interpol".

On the first day of the assembly, November 23, 2021, delegates voted to admit the Federated States of Micronesia to Interpol membership, as the 195th member state.
