Delegation of veterans' associations from Vitez met with FBiH Vice President Refik Lendo

(Patria) - A delegation of the Coordination of veterans' associations from Vitez met yesterday with the Vice President of the Federation of BiH Refik Lendo, where an open discussion particularly emphasized concern over the increasingly frequent and coordinated attempts to relativize war crimes committed in the area of Vitez municipality, SBK and the entire BiH.

The participants of the meeting warned about dangerous tendencies of equating war crimes, which represents a direct blow to the truth, justice, and dignity of the victims - especially Bosniak civilians and defenders who suffered in well-documented crimes.

The long-standing failure to prosecute dozens of brutal crimes against Bosniaks in Vitez was particularly highlighted, including those committed under the command, political, and para-police structures of the then HVO and the political leadership of "H.R. Herceg Bosne".

Although a large number of cases are precisely documented, a judicial epilogue has been missing for decades, opening space for historical revisionism and attempts to rewrite facts.
The delegation clearly stated: any attempt to conceal, diminish, or shift responsibility represents a form of dangerous revisionism that offends victims, undermines trust among people, and encourages extreme narratives.

Vice President Lendo emphasized that the truth about the aggression, crimes, and suffering of innocent people cannot be suppressed, and that institutions must intensify activities so that all those responsible, without exception, are prosecuted.

It was also emphasized that the delegation of the Coordination of veterans' associations of Vitez, after visiting cantonal institutions, continued its activities at the federal level, and that the process of advocating for truth and justice will be expanded to all relevant federal, cantonal judicial, and security-intelligence institutions.

The goal is clear - to institutionally, legally, and publicly stop any form of relativization of crimes and ensure that the prosecution of those responsible finally receives the priority it has lacked for years.

Veterans' associations remain consistent in their stance:
crimes cannot be equated,
justice must not be selective,
truth must not be left to political manipulation.

The meeting was also attended by Advan Akeljić, Minister in the Government of SBK, and Nerman Ramić, President of the Municipal Assembly of Vitez.
