Bank accounts of health institutions in Konjic unblocked

(Patria) - The bank accounts of the Health Center and General Hospital in Konjic have been unblocked following an agreement with the Tax Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"They are unblocked. All services are working to ensure that the employees of the Konjic hospital receive their back pay as soon as possible," said the hospital director Dženan Lepara for N1, adding:

"We still need to work on permanent solutions, and we will strive to resolve everything in the long term."

The Tax Administration of FBiH also confirmed for N1 that the accounts of both the Konjic Health Center and the General Hospital have been unblocked as of today.

"Taxpayers JU Health Center Konjic and JU General Hospital Konjic have concluded agreements with the Tax Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on deferred payment of tax debt for a period of six months. After that, the transaction accounts of taxpayers JU Health Center Konjic and JU General Hospital Konjic were unblocked. Taxpayers are obliged to regularly settle their current obligations from public revenues," it was stated.

Members of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) confirmed that they are conducting certain investigative activities, as contributions for employees have not been paid for a full 14 years.

"The Federal Police Administration, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, is undertaking measures and actions within its jurisdiction, and after their completion, it will submit an adequate report to the competent prosecutor's office. At this stage, we cannot provide more information," said FUP.

Let us remind you, doctors announced yesterday that they would resign if the accounts were not unblocked today. Yesterday, the Union of Professional Unions of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a press conference in Konjic. The demands of the employees of the General Hospital and the Health Center were simple: unblocking of accounts and payment of salaries. The total debt is 22 million. The debt has been accumulating since 2008.
