Unblocking: Road through Željezo Polje to be cleared today

Road communication in Željezo Polje will be established during the day, and by tomorrow at the latest, bringing life back to this settlement in central Bosnia with about 5,000 inhabitants, which has been hit by severe floods and landslides several times in recent months, reports the reporter of the BH News Agency Patria (NAP).

Yesterday, the Željeznica riverbed was also cleared, which had flooded several times in recent months, and the main road through this settlement will be opened to traffic during today or tomorrow at the latest.

Locals warn that road communication through Željezo Polje has been established, but that it is only temporary, and that more funds will need to be invested for the roads to be fully safe for use.

In May, Željezo Polje was hit by severe landslides, which destroyed dozens of houses, public buildings, road infrastructure, and many agricultural properties. Hundreds of people from this settlement are still homeless and are in collective accommodation or with relatives.

During the heavy rainfall that hit Bosnia and Herzegovina in August, road infrastructure in Željezo Polje was destroyed again, writes NAP.
