Darko Ćulum new director of SIPA

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – After the procedure for electing the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency was halted, the process has continued with the appointment of the new Council of Ministers of BiH.

Perica Stanić, the highest-ranked candidate after the expiry of his mandate at the head of SIPA, took over a consultant position in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, and the next on the list is Darko Ćulum, the current director of the Police of Republika Srpska.

As Patria learns unofficially, the appointment of Ćulum as director of SIPA could be on the agenda of the next session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, proposed by the Minister of Security of BiH Fahrudin Radončić.

Darko Ćulum has been in police structures since 1988, and has worked as a police officer and inspector in all lines of work, according to his official biography.
He was born on 11.01.1969 in Ljubačevo, municipality of Banja Luka. He graduated from the Secondary Police School in 1988 in Sarajevo, Higher School of Philosophy in 1998 in Banja Luka, and the Faculty of Security in 2009 in Banja Luka. In his work experience so far, he has performed tasks and duties such as: police officer and inspector in all lines of work; since April 1999, he has been the head of the Group for Combating Serious Thefts.

Since October 2003, he has been the head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime; since March 2006, head of the Criminal Police Sector of the Banja Luka Security Services Center; since January 2010, head of the Banja Luka Security Services Center; since February 2012, head of the Police Administration, and since February 2015, he performed the duties of deputy director of the police. He was appointed to the position of director of the police on September 1, 2016.
