Darijo Srna sent 20 tons of tangerines to children in Donetsk

The captain of Ukrainian Shakhtar and the Croatian national team, Darijo Srna, decided to donate 20 tons of tangerines to children in Donetsk, Croatian media write, as reported by the BH News Agency Patria.

- As a child in Croatia, I also went through a difficult period and needed help. It is very important that there are people who offer you help in difficult situations. Donbass and Donetsk have given me a lot. And this fruit is just a small gift that I can give back. I respect Donetsk very much. It is my city. The city where I received support for 11 years, where I matured as a footballer and as a person. My parents, the club, and the president of Shakhtar taught me that I should help people in difficult situations! That is now my life principle - Srna said.

He said that the idea existed earlier, but he needed help to transport them from Croatia to Donetsk. 

- This comes from my heart and soul. I will try to help everyone who needs it. The more people, the better. The president of our club is the only person who helps Donbass every day. I know he does it from the heart too. And that's why we players do everything we can to help people. In December, I will send another humanitarian shipment to Donetsk. I am sure that all problems will soon come to an end and that we will celebrate football victories with our fans in our stadium-

The tangerines that Srna bought in his hometown of Metković arrived in Donetsk on Tuesday, and by the end of the week, they will be transported to all primary schools in two neighborhoods. They will be received by 23,143 children, and along with the tangerines, Srna also sent special postcards for each child.
