Today in Jablanica: Collective Funeral Prayer for Flood Victims

(Patria) - The collective funeral prayer (dženaza-namaz) for the victims of the floods in the Donja Jablanica area will be performed today at 2:00 PM, confirmed by the Medžlis of the Islamic Community (MIZ) Jablanica.

The funeral prayer will be led by Reis-ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein-ef. Kavazović, in the "Jasen" courtyard in Jablanica, and the burial of the victims will be organized at the local cemeteries of Donja Jablanica, Djevor, and Zlate.

- In these moments of our collective trial and sympathy with the families of the victims, it is our duty to organize the funeral prayer in the most dignified manner.

In cooperation with the municipal Crisis Staff, the MIZ has defined individual technical details regarding the digging of graves, the funeral rite, and the organization of the tevhid after the afternoon prayer in the Čaršijska Mosque in Jablanica - said the chief imam of MIZ Jablanica, Ekrem-ef. Hodžić.

According to his words, the protocol of the religious rite has been harmonized with the higher bodies of the Islamic Community, while the traffic regime before and after the funeral will be determined by the competent authorities of the Ministry of Interior of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and the Jablanica Police Administration.

- We have information that a large number of believers from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina wish to attend the collective funeral, and we take this opportunity to appeal to them to contribute with their behavior and prayers so that we can see off our deceased community members from this world with full piety and utmost dignity - Hodžić urged.

For all other technical information they may need, citizens were asked to contact the duty services of the Municipality, the Crisis Staff, or the Police Administration.

The funeral prayer will be performed for nineteen deceased persons, including one woman whose body was found yesterday during the cleaning of Grabovičko Lake. Her identity has not yet been disclosed.
