(Patria) - The Railways of the Federation of BiH announced that the first promotional tourist train on the route Sarajevo - Vareš - Sarajevo will depart today.
It is a joint project of the Railways of FBiH, the Municipality of Vareš and the Tourist Board of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, aimed at promoting the natural beauty, rich cultural and historical heritage, industrial legacy and local gastronomy of this region.
Passengers will have the opportunity to enjoy a ride on an old diesel hydraulic locomotive with adapted Swedish carriages, through beautiful nature, along the Stavnja river valley.
The railway is 50 kilometers long, passes through 20 tunnels and over 11 bridges.
In the coming period, the public will receive more information on how they can use the services of this train.
Until the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, this railway transported about one million tons of cargo annually and about 300,000 passengers.
The train departs from the Sarajevo Railway Station at 9:15 AM, and returns from Vareš at 5:15 PM.
