Trial of Radončić begins today, 27 witnesses to be heard

At the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, before Judge Hasija Mašić, the main trial in the case of Fahrudin Radončić and others begins today at 1:00 PM. Radončić pleaded before the Court of BiH on March 16 regarding his guilt, and on March 11, the other defendants in this case, Bakir Dautbašić, Bilsena Šahman, and Zijad Hadžijahić, also did so, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

All defendants pleaded not guilty.

Fahrudin Radončić was arrested on January 25, 2016, for obstructing the work of the judiciary, and was remanded in custody. Dautbašić and Šahman were arrested on January 11, 2016.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed the indictment on February 5, and the Court of BiH confirmed it on February 15. Radončić spent 23 days in custody, after which he was released to house arrest with restrictive measures.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH again submitted a request for detention due to violation of restrictive measures, and the Court of BiH ordered detention again on March 4. After a few days, Radončić fell ill and was transferred to the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo due to heart problems, where he was hospitalized, and on March 11 he could not appear at the hearing.

After SIPA officers investigated the documentation and medical council regarding his health condition, Radončić left the Clinical Center at his own risk and was returned to the detention unit of the Court of BiH on March 14, 2016.

The prosecutor will prove the allegations from the indictment and the guilt of the aforementioned individuals by hearing 27 witnesses, findings of four expert witnesses, and submitting more than 160 pieces of material evidence.
