Third anniversary of Sulejman Tihić's death being marked today

Three years have passed since the death of Sulejman Tihić, president of the Party of Democratic Action.

Sulejman Tihić was a very responsible and capable politician who made a very significant contribution to the processes of BiH reintegration, reconciliation and rebuilding trust among peoples and citizens shattered by the aggression against BiH, as well as to the building of state institutions.

- His term in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina was marked by the most significant reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina from Dayton to date. Reforms in the areas of defense, security, rule of law, finance, customs, a single economic space, human rights, etc., were made possible largely thanks to his leadership role and commitment. These reforms signified the beginning of Bosnia and Herzegovina's European and NATO path.

Sulejman Tihić pursued a policy that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosniaks needed, but also all other peoples and citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was a fighter for truth and justice, which is a necessary condition for building trust. He advocated for cooperation and built good relations both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region, Europe, and the world. Due to his realistic and moderate policy, he was a respected and esteemed man worldwide. He was a dialogue partner to all significant world leaders, both in the West and in the East.

After the historically confirmed leader and teacher to all of us, Alija Izetbegović, he took over the leadership of the large and powerful Party in 2001, during very turbulent times for the SDA, successfully leading it until his premature death.

An SDA delegation will visit the grave in Bosanski Šamac today and pay tribute to the late Sulejman Tihić - said the SDA.
