Today marks the 34th anniversary of the crime against Hadžići camp detainees

(Patria) - The Association of Camp Detainees "Lest We Forget and Never Repeat 92-95" Hadžići, with the support of the Municipality of Hadžići and the Alliance of Camp Detainees in BiH, is organizing today the commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the crime against Hadžići camp detainees from the period of aggression against BiH.

The program will be held starting at 11:00 AM at the central Memorial to Detainees in front of the JU KSIRC in Hadžići.

The organizers remind that from May 1992, camps were formed in the Hadžići area in the basement of the Social Welfare building, the Municipality garage, the KSIRC sports hall, the Territorial Defense warehouse, and the basement of the so-called Hotel building, where non-Serb men, women, children, and the elderly were imprisoned.

They emphasize that the Hadžići camps were not the final places of detention and abuse for the detainees, but that many were later transferred to other camps, including the "Slaviša Vajner Čiča" barracks in Lukavica, KPD "Kula" in Ilidža, and the "Planjina kuća" camp in Semizovac.

According to the organizers' data, around 300 detainees were transported by bus on June 22, 1992, to the "Slaviša Vajner Čiča" barracks camp in Lukavica, while some detainees were later transferred to KPD "Kula" in Ilidža.

In October of the same year, a group of about 80 detainees from the KSIRC hall was transferred to the "Planjina kuća" camp in Semizovac.

"In the mentioned camps, 94 residents of Hadžići were killed, died, or executed, and out of the total number of bodies, 51 detainees have not been found even after 34 years since these events.

The largest number, a total of 46, were taken away in Lukavica at the "Slaviša Vajner Čiča" barracks on the night of June 23/24, 1992," the organizers state.

They also remind that for the crimes committed in this area, based on command responsibility, Momčilo Krajišnik and Biljana Plavšić were finally convicted, while among the convicted perpetrators were Ratko Gašović, Vlastimir Pušara, Boro Krsmanović, Rade Veselinović, and Nemanja Jovičić.

The organizers also recalled that Goran Fifić was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the first-instance verdict of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, while the panel of the High Court in Podgorica confirmed the indictment of the Special State Prosecutor's Office against Zoran Gašović.

They invited citizens to contribute to preserving the culture of remembrance by attending today's program and to send a message that such crimes are never forgotten and never repeated."
