Urgent session on security in KS continues today

(Patria) - The urgent session of the Sarajevo Canton (KS) Assembly on the security situation, which began and was interrupted on March 29, will continue today.

After the introductory remarks by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Police Commissioner of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Administration, the Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS, the Ministry of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of KS, the Ministry of Education and Science of KS, the Ministry of Justice and Administration, and the Security Commission, questions from the deputies followed, and the session was then adjourned.

Given that a large number of questions were posed by the deputies, answers will follow at the continuation of the session, at least those that were asked verbally.

What was highlighted at the session itself was the penal policy towards perpetrators of criminal offenses, meaning that these penalties do not affect the perpetrators nor deter them from committing criminal offenses. Very often, these are repeat offenders.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of KS, Admir Katica, requested changes to legal solutions so that repeat offenders in traffic violations can be sanctioned more adequately and that a special criminal offense of reckless driving be introduced.

Given the new security challenges that occurred in Sarajevo in the past few days, when an explosive device was thrown at the house of the Mayor of Old Town, Irfan Čengić, and slightly earlier at the street of the municipal and city councilor Vedad Deljković - which the police have shed light on, there will certainly be discussions on why some cases are resolved faster, some slower, and some never, which causes a negative attitude among citizens towards investigative and judicial bodies.
