Verdict to be delivered today for Armin Berberović in case of severe accident that killed two young doctors

(Patria) - The verdict will be delivered today at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for Armin Berberović, accused of causing a severe traffic accident in which two young doctors, Azra Spahić and Alma Suljić, were killed as pedestrians.

Adela Suljić, the mother of the deceased Alma, who died from the consequences of the accident on June 23, 2023, addressed this issue on social media yesterday.

- The verdict for Armin Berberović, for the murder of our Alma and our Azra at a pedestrian crossing, as well as for inflicting injuries on our Edina, will be delivered at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo on December 30, 2024, at 11 AM.

From the first day of the court proceedings, the Prosecution and we, the families, have been demanding the maximum prescribed prison sentence, which is a shameful 20 years for taking two lives.

This was not an unfortunate accident, but a deliberate murder... Getting behind the wheel without a driver's license, reckless, wild, and arrogant driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

He pleaded not guilty at the first hearing. There are no mitigating circumstances for a murderer.

With the verdict, the Court will show how much two young lives, taken in the most brutal way, are 'worth' to the judiciary," wrote Adela Suljić.

Berberović caused a traffic accident at the end of May last year, which resulted in the death of two people and injuries to another.

Let us remind you, he hit three pedestrians at a pedestrian crossing in the Marijin Dvor neighborhood, killing one of them - Azra Spahić, a young doctor, at the scene, and severely injuring her friend Alma Suljić, who, after almost a month of fighting for her life, unfortunately, passed away.

Their third friend, E. S., sustained minor injuries.

The investigation established that Berberović was driving without a driver's license and under the influence of alcohol.
