31st anniversary of the closure of the Sušica camp to be marked today

(Patria) - A march of peace Turalići - "Dobra voda-Sušica" will mark the 31st anniversary of the closure of the Sušica camp in Vlasenica today.

Organized by the Association of Camp Detainees in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the commemoration will begin at 3 PM.

From June to September 1992, around 8,000 detainees from the Vlasenica and Podrinje regions passed through the Sušica camp, and according to ICRC data, 1,617 detainees paid with their lives for the torture inflicted by the camp guards and founders, ranging from psycho-physical abuse, sexual assault, mutilation, rape, and ultimately murder.

For the crimes committed in the Sušica camp, and in the Vlasenica municipality in general, Dragan Nikolić – Jenki was definitively convicted by the Hague Tribunal, and Predrag Bastah and Goran Višković by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
