Decision postponed: Independent body to announce new tender for FUP Director in January

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The Independent Body of the FBiH Parliament did not make a decision on announcing a new tender for the Director of the Federal Police Administration today, it was confirmed for Patria.

All seven members attended the session, but they did not vote on the conclusion to announce a new tender today. Instead, they will request information from the FBiH Government on whether the Government has informed any of the candidates from the ranking list, on whom it voted at the session on July 8, about it.

After the FBiH Government responds to the Independent Body, a decision on the new tender should be made at the January session. According to Patria's information, there is a sufficient majority to announce a new tender.  

We remind you that the FBiH Government initially received the list of candidates in April 2019, but in June of that year, it decided not to vote and postpone the election of the FUP Director until a new FBiH Government was formed, so as not to affect the election of the Minister of Internal Affairs of FBiH, as the FUP Director and the Minister cannot be from the same constituent nation.

Only at the session on July 8 this year, when it became clear that there would be no new FBiH Government, did they vote on all seven candidates. No candidate received the required majority, and the top-ranked candidate, Zoran Galić, received five votes from the HDZ BiH, which insists on his appointment to this position to this day.

However, the FBiH Government concluded the procedure by voting, which practically ended this tender, and it remains for the Independent Body to announce a new tender.

If the situation remains as it is, given that the Minister of FMUP, Aljoša Čampara, is Bosniak, the FUP Director should be from another constituent nation.

Otherwise, Ensad Korman has been leading the FUP during the period since the Director's position has been vacant.
