(Patria) - The Memorial Center Sarajevo and the Government of Sarajevo Canton (KS), on the occasion of the KS Day, are organizing an Open Day of the Tunnel D-B Memorial Complex today, which represents one of the most significant places in the recent history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the siege of Sarajevo, the tunnel was the only link between the surrounded city and the rest of the free territory, enabling the delivery of food, medicine, humanitarian aid, and other essential means of survival.
Numerous citizens, wounded soldiers, members of the Army of the Republic of BiH, as well as communication and energy resources passed through the tunnel, thus playing a crucial role in the survival of Sarajevo and its inhabitants.
Today, it represents a symbol of resistance, endurance, and the fight for freedom, and a permanent reminder of the importance of preserving the culture of remembrance.
The working hours of the Memorial Complex are from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Citizens of BiH gain free entry by voluntarily showing a valid identification document, the Memorial Center Sarajevo announced.
