(Patria) - Sarajevo will today mark February 5 - the Day of Remembrance for all killed and wounded citizens of Sarajevo during the siege of 1992-1995 and the 31st anniversary of the first massacre at Markale market.
At 12:00 PM, a flower laying ceremony is planned at the memorial at Markale market, and at 12:30 PM, a joint commemorative session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, the Sarajevo City Council, and the municipal councils from the Sarajevo Canton will be held at the National Theatre.
Traffic will be temporarily suspended in Mula Mustafe Bašeskije Street, near Markale market, between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM during the flower laying ceremony.
The organizer of the joint commemorative session has invited families and friends of the fallen Sarajevans to attend, in order to collectively pay tribute to their killed fellow citizens.
On this sad day, exactly 31 years ago, 68 Sarajevans were killed, and 142 were seriously or lightly wounded.
