Bosnia and Herzegovina Independence Day celebrated outdoors for the first time

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Citizens of Sarajevo are celebrating Bosnia and Herzegovina Independence Day at Trg Oslobođenja Alija Izetbegović, where an all-day entertainment program has been organized thanks to the Government of Canton Sarajevo and the Bosnian Cultural Center. In the presence of numerous young people, March 1st was celebrated for all citizens by the cantonal prime minister Edin Forto.

"We are happy that for the first time we have enabled citizens to enjoy one of the most important holidays of their homeland in an open space. This is primarily important for children to have a basis for remembering the celebration of Independence Day and, most importantly, to feel joy," said Prime Minister Forto.

Smiles on children's faces show that today's gathering makes sense, and it began with an entertainment and music program in which preschool institutions, primary and music schools, as well as folklore ensembles from Canton Sarajevo participated.

Also, the gatherings with firefighters and police officers at the checkpoints attracted great interest from children.

"This is part of the daily program, which the youngest citizens enjoy the most. In the evening, Bosnian bands Regina and Gonzo will perform on the stage at Trg Oslobođenja - Alija Izetbegović," stated Sanela Lemeš on behalf of the Bosnian Cultural Center.

She told the citizens that they can take photos with costumed actors in specially designed selfie corners, in addition to which the mascots Vučko and Groodvy complete the festive atmosphere.
