Statehood Day of BiH is a non-working day throughout BiH

Bosnia and Herzegovina celebrates November 25 as Statehood Day, and it will be a non-working day for all employers, institutions, administrative bodies, and other legal entities in the country, writes the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

On this day in 1943, at the first session of ZAVNOBiH in Mrkonjić Grad, the Resolution of ZAVNOBiH was adopted, expressing the determination of the people of BiH that their country be a united community in which full equality of all will be ensured, as well as the equality of the Republic of BiH within the Yugoslav federation, with historical borders dating back to the time of medieval Bosnia.

The first session of ZAVNOBiH began in Mrkonjić Grad on November 25, 1943, at 7 PM. It concluded the same night, on November 26, at 4 AM, writes NAP.

This founding assembly was attended by 247 delegates from all parts of BiH, 173 of whom had voting rights. At the first session, ZAVNOBiH was formally constituted as the representative body of the National Liberation Movement (NOP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but in reality and practice, it acted as its highest authority.

The delegates adopted the Resolution of ZAVNOBiH and the Proclamation to the Peoples of BiH, which stated that in the future, BiH and its peoples, both domestically and abroad, could only be represented by ZAVNOBiH and AVNOJ.

These acts simultaneously expressed the determination of the peoples of BiH that their country, which is neither Serbian, nor Croatian, nor Muslim, but rather Serbian, Muslim, and Croatian, be a united community in which full equality of all Serbs, Muslims, and Croats will be ensured, writes NAP.
