Damir Nikšić Joins Our Party Club in Sarajevo Canton Assembly, But Not the Party Itself

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Damir Nikšić, previously an independent representative in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, has become a member of the Our Party Club of Representatives. The reason for joining the Our Party Club is the need for stronger unification of civic, liberal options:

“As one of the eighteen signatories of the current ruling majority, I do not only want to confirm my commitment to this majority and my support for the current government, but I also want to show my commitment to civic values and principles, to the organized civic/liberal left, and that is why I decided to join the Our Party Club.

I believe that all available and existing liberal and progressive forces must unite, that we must close ranks, that we must reduce our egos, and that strengthening, encouraging, consolidating the civic left and awakening civic consciousness must become the next trend.

I have long and often 'gone solo' in my fight for individual/civic rights and freedoms, both my own and those of my fellow citizens, but I think that we as a society have reached a situation that must be approached more seriously if we do not want to find ourselves in a quasi-feudal system, if we care about Bosnian-Herzegovinian civil society, about our primary human rights, our individual civic rights and freedoms, about our children not being servants, vassals, and subjects, but rather 'their own people', educated, enlightened, and aware free citizens,” said Nikšić.

The Chairwoman of the Our Party Club in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, Neira Dizdarević, sees Nikšić's joining her Club as an exceptional strengthening:

“Damir Nikšić, through his work so far, has shown that he is one of the most active and knowledgeable representatives in the Assembly when it comes to the entire spectrum of topics relevant to the Canton. His energy is what attracts people, so even if they don't agree with him, they listen carefully. Often, they agree afterwards. We have more or less agreed on everything before, but we worked separately; now that we have the synergy of joint work, both his and our proposals can only be better.”

It is important to know that by agreeing to become a member of the Our Party Club, Damir Nikšić has not become a member of Our Party itself.
