Damir Džumhur started the New Year with a victory

DOHA, (Patria) - Damir Džumhur opened the new season in the best possible way.

Our best tennis player, along with Dušan Lajović, defeated the Austrian-Croatian pair Oliver Marach-Mate Pavić with 2:1 in sets in the first round of doubles at the ATP tournament in Doha.

The first set, after 33 minutes of play, went to the Bosnian-Serbian pair with 6:4, after which Marach and Pavić dominated the second set. They conceded only one game to their opponents.

The deciding set eventually went to Džumhur and Lajović with 10:7 for a final score of 2:1 and a place in the quarterfinals.

Their opponents in the fight for the semi-finals will be the Đoković brothers, Novak and Marko. Besides facing the world's number one tennis player in singles, they will now also meet in doubles.
