Damir Beljo fights for European champion title in Berlin

Our professional boxer Damir Beljo will have a match in Berlin on Friday against Maik Kurzweil for the vacant European champion title according to the WBO version, and the Asia-Pacific champion according to the WBC version.

This will be the most important match of his career for Beljo, a professional boxer from Mostar, and certainly one of the most important for BiH boxing in 2015.

- No boxer from BiH has ever managed to win two such belts, and I don't know if anyone from the former Yugoslavia has done it either. If I win in Berlin, I will be just one match away from challenging for the world title. I will enter the top ten in two of the strongest versions and automatically among the challengers for the two strongest versions, WBO and WBC. That's why this is a historic match in every way for me, but also for the entire BiH – states Damir Beljo.

As he says, together with his coaches and colleagues, he is fully prepared for Maik Kurzweil, who has an impressive record of 14 wins, 11 of which were in the first round.

- He is a very dangerous fighter in the early rounds, so I will not rush from the start of the match and I will look for my chance as the match progresses. I hope to return to BiH from Berlin with the belt – says Beljo.

The weigh-in for Beljo and Kurzweil, as well as a press conference, is scheduled for today in Berlin. Beljo and Kurzweil will cross gloves in the final fight of the evening, most likely on Friday around 9:30 PM, and the match will be broadcast live by Eurosport.
