Damir Arnaut: BiH will ask the US for evidence of Špirić's corruption

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament adopted an initiative at yesterday's session, which calls for initiating the procedure to request from the United States of America documentation on corruption involving Nikola Špirić.

The initiative was submitted by representatives Predrag Kojović, Aida Baručija, Mirjana Marinković-Lepić, and Damir Arnaut.

“Špirić has been on the US blacklist for years due to corruption. The US Embassy once stated that his activities harmed both US interests and the citizens of BiH, and it never occurred to anyone to ask for evidence, so that the public in BiH could gain insight into his activities. This negligence has allowed Špirić to continue holding the most responsible state positions in BiH. Among others, the position of a member of the Commission for the Election and Monitoring of the Work of the Agency for Prevention and Coordination of the Fight against Corruption. However, the initiative adopted yesterday instructs the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH to initiate the procedure within ten days, through diplomatic and other channels, to request information and documentation from the competent US authorities regarding their allegations,” says Damir Arnaut.
