Dačić: This is Izetbegović's lawsuit and it will have major consequences for relations with BiH

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić stated that the announcement of a request for a review of the International Court of Justice's verdict on BiH's lawsuit against Serbia is dangerous and unnecessary, reports Patria. 

He assessed that "this is not BiH's lawsuit, but the lawsuit of Bosniak politician Bakir Izetbegović" which will have major consequences for bilateral relations with BiH.

Dačić told RTS that the decision from Sarajevo is not a surprise, not because there are any new facts, but because of the person who has been insisting on it continuously for several years.

According to Dačić, that decision will cause destabilization not only of BiH but also of the entire region, and he assessed it as a very dangerous decision.

On the other hand, in his opinion, it will have major consequences for the bilateral relations between the two countries.

“Third, and perhaps most importantly in this case, is that states sue and are sued before the International Court of Justice", pointed out Dačić.

"We have no intention here of participating in a court process where the active party does not have the right to do so, it is a representative of only one nation, and perhaps not even of the entire constituent nation of BiH, and not even of an entire entity", explained Dačić.

According to him, the registry of the ICJ itself considers the review procedure to be a new procedure, and in a theoretical sense, this means that a new authorization and a new decision from the suing state are required.

"In this case, there is no such decision, and the representatives of Serbs and the representatives of Croats are against this decision", said Dačić.
