(Patria) - Regarding the public tender published by the Public Institution "Cantonal Institute for the Protection of Cultural-Historical and Natural Heritage of Sarajevo" for collecting offers for the lease of the Yellow Fortress space in the Old Town of Sarajevo, we express deep concern and the need for careful action regarding this cultural symbol of the city, it was announced from SBiH.

"This concerns an area of 959 m2, which would be leased at a minimum price of 105.00 KM for a period of up to 24 months. Does the director Boris Trapara, who was appointed as a proposal from Our Party, want to destroy the historical heritage of the BiH capital for some 'symbolic' fee?

The Municipality of Stari Grad and the Canton of Sarajevo should act together to preserve the Yellow Fortress and ensure that this site retains its cultural-historical image.

It is more important to preserve the integrity of the Yellow Fortress than to allow the space to succumb to cheap leases and private ambitions that could threaten its authenticity. Places like the Yellow Fortress should be taken over by a newly established company that, instead of focusing solely on raising exorbitant parking prices in the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo for financial sustainability, should aim to develop new models that will include an active contribution to the promotion and protection of the rich heritage of the Old Town.

We appeal to the competent institutions and the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments of BiH to take all necessary steps to ensure that the Yellow Fortress remains open and accessible to the public as a symbol of the city that connects the past and present of Sarajevo," it was announced from the Party for BiH.
