The adoption of the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH are one package, without which BiH will face sanctions, stated Mladen Ćavar, Deputy Minister of Security of BiH, before the session of the House of Peoples of BiH for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP). Delegates of the House of Peoples have begun a session on whose agenda are two laws of key importance for the country.
- It is unclear to me who spread the information that these two laws are not a package. BiH is already under a kind of sanction and a statement has already been issued to the member countries of MONEYVAL. I hope these laws will be adopted and that we will avoid further consequences - said Ćavar.
Halid Genjac, delegate of SDA, stated for NAP that it will be “terrible” if the amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH are not adopted.
Otherwise, delegates from SNSD have announced that they will vote against these amendments, while SDS will not declare themselves at all, and Mladen Ivanić from PDP will abstain. If such an outcome occurs, the package will not be adopted, and BiH will come under sanctions.
