Cvijanović asks all embassies in BiH to send correspondence to her Cabinet as well, not just the MFA

(Patria) - Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović addressed all diplomatic and consular missions and international organizations accredited in BiH with a request that all future correspondence be sent directly to her cabinet as well, not just to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH.

Cvijanović claims that "significant problems" have recently arisen regarding the work of the Ministry because it has allegedly exceeded its competencies, writes Istraga.ba.

"Namely, the Ministry has taken positions and issued instructions to BiH embassies around the world without prior decisions of the BiH Presidency, as stipulated by the Constitution.

On several occasions, the Ministry has not forwarded key correspondence to the cabinet of the Serb member of the Presidency, or has done so with significant delays," the letter states.

Cvijanović points out that, according to the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the BiH Presidency is the sole body competent for conducting the foreign policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs serves as an auxiliary body that enables incoming and outgoing communication and correspondence with foreign bodies in both directions.

"These activities have led to interruptions in timely and accurate communication, resulting in misinterpretations of official positions and disruptions in the functioning of our cabinet.

Given these developments, I kindly ask you to also send all future correspondence from your esteemed diplomatic mission directly to our Cabinet, in order to ensure accurate, timely, and transparent communication," the letter to diplomatic and consular missions in BiH states.
