Cvetković confirmed to Beta: I'm at home, press conference in the coming days

BELA CRKVA, (Patria) - Journalist Stefan Cvetković contacted the Beta agency by phone and said he had arrived home, that he was not injured, and that he would hold a press conference in the coming days at which he would "down to the smallest detail" inform the public about everything that happened to him.

"I thank the entire public, international and domestic organizations, everyone for everything they have done for me. If it weren't for the public's reaction, we wouldn't be talking today," Cvetković told the Beta agency.

He added that it means a lot to him and his family that they were not left alone.

"The public is the last dam against absolute madness. And those who create that madness should be afraid of it. I will inform the public down to the smallest detail, that is my obligation to the public," Cvetković said.

"Today I was allowed to move freely," Cvetković said and added that the police officially informed him that he has the status of a victim and asked him not to speak publicly so as not to hinder the investigation. Cvetković also spoke today with journalists from N1 TV.

Journalist from Bela Crkva, Stefan Cvetković, disappeared on the night between Wednesday and Thursday on Belgrade Street in that town. The police found his parked car with the door open and lights on.

Cvetković had recently been working on the case of the murder of the leader of the Civic Initiative SDP, Oliver Ivanović.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Friday that the journalist from Bela Crkva, Stefan, was found alive in the wider center of that town and without visible injuries, but the journalist did not address the public until today, which led his colleagues to doubt the entire case.

„Until we see Cvetković live, he is still a 'missing person'. And if the 'police' are keeping him, they should tell us 'under what circumstances'. Stop the football, Vučić, answer the questions,“ wrote famous Serbian journalist Slobodan Georgijev on Twitter today before Cvetković contacted Beta.

The Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) and the Independent Society of Journalists of Vojvodina (NDNV) also previously demanded that the competent state authorities immediately announce where journalist Cvetković is and whether he has the legal protection provided by law.

“We demand that the state announce whether Cvetković is currently giving a statement, to whom and in what capacity, as well as when exactly he was found. If he is in the capacity of a suspect, whether he has a lawyer and who that is,” they stated in the announcement.

“We demand that all details of the Cvetković case be clarified to the end and communicated to the public, and we also demand that representatives of journalists' associations have the opportunity to speak with him as soon as possible,” requested the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia and the Independent Society of Journalists of Vojvodina.

Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojša Stefanović stated today that the report on the case of journalist Stefan Cvetković, along with his statement, has been forwarded to the prosecutor.

Stefanović, appearing on the RTS morning program, claimed that there were many illogicalities in the entire case and in Cvetković's statement itself, reports the Patria agency.
