Guardians of Kruščica in Sarajevo Today: Security Commission of the FBiH Parliament to Convene

The battle for the Kruščica river, where - according to some information - the Sarajevo-based company Higracon is attempting to build a small hydroelectric power plant, has been ongoing since the beginning of August.

Locals have protested against the construction permit, which was obtained by circumventing laws and democratic procedures, and they are daily protecting their river from excavators with their own bodies. Because of this, many of them, especially women, have already suffered violence from special police and private security guards on several occasions, and dozens of misdemeanor charges with very high fines have been filed against them.

Brave guardians will come to Sarajevo today, Monday, September 25, 2017, to attend the session of the Security Commission of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, which will also consider the Information on the security situation in Kruščica.

- On that occasion, you can get information about the determined fight of the locals for the preservation of their river directly from them, at 12:00 PM, in front of the Parliament of the Federation building (on Obala), where their delegation, along with solidarity activists from Sarajevo, will await information from the Commission's session - it was announced.
