(Patria) - The association 'Guardians of Bosnia' issued a press release regarding yesterday's events in Mostar.
"The date for the adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica in the United Nations General Assembly is approaching. This is just another reason for the entity Republika Srpska and Serbia to intensify their coordinated activities to undermine the constitutional order and endanger the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are using various deceptions and tricks in this process. One of these deceptions is that the Resolution, which will be considered by the United Nations General Assembly, was not discussed in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that there is no consensus on this issue in our country.
They are intentionally trying to mislead the domestic and international public on this matter, because Article 10 of the Charter of the United Nations stipulates that "The General Assembly may consider any questions or any matters within the scope of the Charter or relating to the powers and functions of any organs provided for in the Charter, and may, except as provided in Article 12, make recommendations to the Members of the United Nations or to the Security Council or to both, as the case may be, with regard to any such questions or matters." Therefore, as is happening with the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, any UN member state can bring any issue before the General Assembly for discussion and decision, and thus, regardless of the fact that it concerns our country in this specific case, no decision is needed, especially not a consensus within state bodies. This is a resolution that will recommend to all UN member states to commemorate the genocide in Srebrenica, the commission of which has been established by the International Court of Justice.
If Serbia invokes international law so much, then it should respect and adhere to the fundamental international document - the Charter of the United Nations, which in Article 94 states:
"(1) Each Member of the United Nations undertakes to comply with the decision of the International Court in any case to which it has become a party.
(2) If any party to a case fails to perform the obligations incumbent upon it under a judgment rendered by the Court, the other party may have recourse to the Security Council, which may, if it deems it necessary, make recommendations or decide upon measures to be taken to give effect to the judgment."
Despite these prescribed obligations and the judgment of the International Court of Justice, established by the UN Charter, which found Serbia guilty of violating the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Vučić and Dodik continue to deny the genocide and try to impose a false thesis on the Serbian people that this resolution by the General Assembly burdens the entire Serbian people with the genocide committed in Srebrenica.
They are fully aware and know that responsibility for genocide is individualized, and numerous judgments of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia speak to this, and by defending convicted war criminals, they themselves try, and succeed well, to shift the guilt for the crime of genocide onto the entire Serbian people.
Dodik stated yesterday in Mostar, referring to this issue: "If something like that is adopted, then the only possibility is for us to peacefully separate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because we do not want to live with a people who try to place such a shameful label on the Serbian people..."
Vučić was very clear immediately after that: "I will always support Mile and Republika Srpska in everything."
This means that Vučić, for the first time, very clearly and openly supports the secession of the entity Republika Srpska, while assuring journalists who asked him questions about Serbia's responsibility that "Serbia is in no way responsible for the genocide and do not mislead the people."
Well, Vučić, so as not to mislead the people, read the following:
In the operative part of the judgment of the International Court of Justice, rendered in the case concerning the application of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Bosnia and Herzegovina v. Serbia and Montenegro), delivered on February 26, 2007, it was determined that Serbia is responsible on three counts:
5) by twelve votes to three, finds that, in relation to the genocide committed in Srebrenica in July 1995, Serbia has violated its obligation to prevent genocide under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide;
(6) by fourteen votes to one, finds that Serbia has violated its obligation under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide by failing to extradite Ratko Mladić, accused of genocide and complicity in genocide, for trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and by thus failing to cooperate fully with that Tribunal;
(7) by thirteen votes to two, finds that Serbia has violated its obligation to comply with the provisional measures ordered by the Court on April 8 and September 13, 1993, in this case - by failing to take all measures within its power to prevent the genocide in Srebrenica in July 1995.
There is no end to the lies and deceptions of this duo. But there is also no end to the danger that these two politicians pose and threaten peace and security. They also threaten the existence of Bosnia and Herzegovina. And instead of supporting this resolution, they have decided to change street names in Srebrenica, where genocide was committed, and to name streets after individuals who were direct participants in certain activities and crimes in Srebrenica during the past war, as well as other names that offend the victims of genocide in that city.
But, all of this is not, as it appears, enough for Bosniaks to finally see clearly, to understand what is going on, and instead of mutual quarrels and wars, to build a strong and united front for the defense of the state and all civilizational values", stated Guardians of Bosnia.
