Guardians of Bosnia Call on PIC Steering Board and Schmidt: React to the Destruction of Dayton and Violation of the Constitution or We Will Seek a Return to RBiH

(Patria) - Dear Mr. Schmidt, we are confident that with due diligence, as required by your position in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement, you are following and registering the open attacks on the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose High Representative you are, according to a statement from the Association Guardians of Bosnia, which calls on the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council and the High Representative to react.

"The situation has been almost unbearable for several years now, as nationalist/fascist forces have re-emerged and are in full force destroying the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

You know and see that the state institutions have been in complete blockade for several years. They want to portray the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina as an "impossible state" and are doing everything to make it so, blaming Bosniaks and the international community for it," the statement added.

The Association Guardians of Bosnia states: "After the pan-Serb assembly held on June 8, 2024, the situation, Mr. High Representative, has become dramatic. We believe that neither you nor any of the domestic politicians and representatives of the international community need to be particularly convinced of this".

"It is enough to read the conclusions of the adopted declaration and everything will be clear to you. And we believe you have already read them. The declaration adopted at the pan-Serb assembly speaks of the statehood of the entity of Republika Srpska, and Dodik has previously announced a referendum on the secession of that entity and unification with Serbia. Vučić is doing the same. The declaration also speaks of this, especially in point 47, which shows that Serbia is claiming territory of our country and violating its sovereignty and territorial integrity. They are also violating the Dayton Peace Agreement and openly announcing the withdrawal of Republika Srpska from Bosnia and Herzegovina," the Association Guardians of Bosnia states.

They further state: "Mr. Schmidt, the situation is more than dramatic. The international community is to blame for this situation, which imposed the Constitution of the state on us, which has strengthened the blockades of state institutions and allowed the rule of the minority over the majority. This does not exist anywhere in the world".

"Therefore, we call on you and the member states of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council to urgently take measures to rectify these shortcomings in the Dayton Constitution as soon as possible, on which the Venice Commission has also expressed its opinion. We also call on you to put pressure on the Prosecutor's Office and the Court of BiH to legally address Milorad Dodik's anti-constitutional actions as soon as possible, given that he wants to link the anti-constitutional day of the RS entity to the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, which was strictly forbidden by the Dayton Agreement to interfere in the internal affairs of BiH.

You know that this is necessary, and you also know how it can and should be done. If you do not do this in the near future, you will be responsible for everything that happens in Bosnia and Herzegovina. And our only option and response to the attack on the Dayton Peace Agreement and our country Bosnia and Herzegovina will be, we assure you, a return to acting according to the Constitution of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. And then there will be neither instruments of state blockade, nor entities created by violence, crimes, and genocide," conclude the Association Guardians of Bosnia.
