Crnadak meets with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Yee

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak met on Friday in Dubrovnik with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States of America Hoyt Brian Yee.

Minister Crnadak and Deputy Assistant Secretary Yee discussed the political situation in BiH as well as the continued support of the American administration for the implementation of reforms and ensuring the rule of law in BiH. Minister Crnadak informed Yee of BiH's intention to send answers from the European Commission's Questionnaire to Brussels as soon as possible and to launch a diplomatic offensive towards obtaining candidate status for EU membership at the beginning of 2018.

The interlocutors also discussed the initiative of Croatian representatives on amending the Election Law, the adoption of the Excise Law, preparations for the Summit in Trieste, as well as other current issues in BiH. During the conversation, Minister Crnadak emphasized that strong US support for the Dayton Agreement is crucial for stability in BiH.

Continuing the conversation, Minister Crnadak said that for the development of democracy in BiH and for holding fair elections next year, it is necessary to free public RTV services from political influence and finally start a serious fight against corruption by judicial institutions in BiH. He underlined that it is important that in the continuation of the European integration process, high European standards and unimpeded work of independent institutions are ensured for the media, judiciary, but also in other areas, in order to restore hope to ordinary people and stop the accelerated departure, especially of young people.

Minister Crnadak and Hoyt Yee will participate in the work of the Dubrovnik Forum 2017 in Dubrovnik on Saturday, NAP reports.
