(Patria) – The number of infected people in Japan exceeded 1,016 on Saturday, however, if the number of infected people on the cruise ship Diamond Princess, which is still docked near Tokyo, is added, the total number is 1,782, with 43 deaths.

Australia reported 1,049 cases and 7 deaths, and a similar situation is in Canada, where 1,044 people are infected, and 13 have died. On Saturday, 'Bondi beach' was temporarily closed because Australians did not respect 'social distancing'. When it reopens, if more than 500 people gather, local authorities will close it again.

Great Britain closed pubs, cafes, gyms, and restaurants on Friday evening.

Tens of millions of Americans are now living under strict quarantine measures, except for essential workers.

Singapore, otherwise praised for its organized response to the epidemic, recorded its first two deaths related to the coronavirus, out of a total of 385 infected people.

Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern appealed to citizens to reduce movement and cancel all non-essential travel, as well as to work from home. Supermarkets and pharmacies remain open in New Zealand.

Syria, which has not recorded a single case of coronavirus infection, has banned entry to the country for people coming from affected countries. There is great concern there about the appearance of infection in already overcrowded camps where displaced persons reside.

The government of Jordan has imposed a nationwide curfew. The penalty for violation is a one-year prison sentence.

The Philippines recorded its 19th death, while the number of confirmed cases is rising to 262.

The Indian state of Tamil Nadu has closed its borders with neighboring states.

Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warns young people that it is not only the elderly who are at risk and that they must behave responsibly: 'You can spend several weeks in the hospital because of the virus – and it can kill you.'
