Covid 19 in FBiH: Drop in number of infected and hospitalized, but not in deaths

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data submitted to the Institute for Public Health of FBiH in the Federation of BiH, as of 20.12.2021 at 12:00, 182,726 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 7,322 COVID-19-related deaths have been registered. Currently, 6,349 active cases of COVID-19 are recorded.

At the level of the Federation of BiH, the 7-day incidence is 101.7 cases/100,000 inhabitants. In the last seven days, the Sarajevo Canton, Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and West Herzegovina Canton have a higher incidence than the average recorded in the Federation of BiH.

In the Federation of BiH, 422 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, of which 25 (5.9%) are on invasive mechanical ventilation. According to the submitted data, out of 391 hospitalized persons with data on vaccination status, 316 (80.8%) are unvaccinated and incompletely vaccinated, and 75 (19.2%) are fully vaccinated.

Last week, 114 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported.

In the 50th week, a decline is recorded in all indicators except the number of deaths due to COVID-19. The largest decline is recorded in the number of COVID-19 patients on respirators and the total number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients at the end of the week.
