COVID-19: Italy remains the most endangered European country

(Patria) - The number of coronavirus infections in Italy rose to 1,128 on Saturday, while the death toll in this most endangered European country stands at 29.

Despite prevention measures, France is recording an increase in cases, which now number 100, with concentrations north of Paris and in Haute Savoie near the Swiss border. Like most other countries, France has banned public gatherings of more than 5,000 people, while all public gatherings are banned in particularly endangered areas.

In Germany, the number of infected people has sharply increased from 66 to 117.

South Korea has registered hundreds of new infections, especially in the last couple of days, bringing the total number to 3,150, making it the second country in the world by number of infections, right after China. Most cases are concentrated in the southern part of the country, in the city of Daegu, which has a population of 2.5 million.

In Great Britain, the total number of registered patients is 35, and the US, Thailand, and Australia have reported their first deaths. In Iran, 210 people have died so far due to coronavirus infection, according to sources from local hospitals for the BBC, although the country's government has reported only about thirty deaths.

Saudi Arabia, which has not recorded a single case of infection so far, continues to take preventive measures, including the readiness of 25 hospitals with 2,200 beds in quarantine, as well as closing borders to foreign pilgrims.

Other Gulf countries have reported cases of infection, mostly related to visits to Iran or contact with people after visits.
