(Patria) - Ten months have passed since the General Elections in BiH, and the government in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton has not yet been formed. The saga has been going on for months, and next week, according to announcements from HDZ BiH, a new majority in the HNK Assembly should finally be agreed upon.
The backbone of this government will be HDZ BiH and SDA with NES, which have 19 votes. 20 deputies are needed to confirm the HNK Government. Although the president of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, announced that HDZ could secure 14 or 15 votes, this is no longer the case because HDZ 1990 is not interested in supporting the new Government.
The final meeting between HDZ and SDA is scheduled for July 17. HRS has also refused to participate in the majority to confirm the HNK Government. So, the HDZ and SDA bloc should seek the 20th vote from other parties.
SDP and NIP were in the running for forming the Government, but they only have four votes, so HDZ, after failed talks, turned to SDA. Although DF has two votes, the party's Presidency decided not to enter the government. However, whether anything has changed in the meantime will be seen next week when it should be specified who will support the new Government.
The last HNK Government was formed in September 2015, when Nevenko Herceg (HDZ BiH) was elected Prime Minister.
