Čović schedules continuation of the interrupted session of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA from March: Bosniak Club will not attend the session!

(Patria) - An announcement arrived today from the BiH PA regarding the continuation of the 14th session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH on Thursday, June 27, 2024, starting at 11 AM (Blue Hall). This is about the session that was interrupted on March 18 due to a lack of quorum because the Bosniak Club withdrew from the session when the Request of delegate Želimir Nešković (SDS) for the urgent procedure consideration of the Bill on the Constitutional Court of BiH was included on the agenda.

The Speaker of the Bosniak Club, Šefik Džaferović, stated at the time that the Club was withdrawing from the session and that the House of Peoples should not have even engaged in considering such a proposal, and that "risks of this kind" were not necessary in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

"This is a law that strikes at the foundations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we do not want to participate in it and in this way we are protecting BiH. I begged you not to propose such a law, not to support its inclusion on the agenda. Our response is this, continue without the Bosniak People's Club," said Džaferović.

After Dragan Čović took over the chairmanship of the House of Peoples of the BiH PA, the continuation of that session was scheduled. However, the Bosniak Club will not attend this session. The Bosniak Club includes Šefik Džaferović, Safet Softić, Dženan Đonlagić, Džemal Smajić, and Kemal Ademović.

Delegate Džemal Smajić told Patria that they have a unified stance and that the Constitutional Court of BiH cannot be discussed in the House of Peoples in this manner, undermining BiH's institutions.

"This is not any blockade, nor are we blocking anything. It is evident that this majority that forms the government is not functioning, and now SNSD and HDZ are trying to shift the blame for some blockades onto us. We are waiting for the budget; if a session is scheduled to adopt the budget of BiH institutions for 2024, we will attend that session," Smajić told Patria.

Also on the agenda are numerous reports, Information on the Annual Training and Exercise Plan for members and units of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina abroad for 2024.

Delegates also have the Proposal of Conclusions on the establishment of a Temporary Joint Commission of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the procedure of electing seven members of the Management Board of the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance.
