Čović Appoints Gilja, Previously Accused of Abuse of Office, as Director of EP HZHB Mostar

The FBiH Government has given prior consent to the Supervisory Board of the public company ''Elektroprivreda HZ HB''  Mostar for the dismissal of members of the company's Management Board before the end of their mandate and for the appointment of Marinko Gilja as acting general director - a member of the Management Board of this company, reports the news agency Patria.

As stated, the appointment is valid until the completion of the competition procedure, but for a maximum period of up to six months.

The company's Assembly, at a session held on June 29, 2015, did not adopt the report on the company's operations for 2014, which includes the financial report and the reports of the auditor, the Supervisory Board, and the Audit Committee.

With this appointment, Dragan Čović, the leader of the HDZ, confirmed that he will "shelter" all his close associates.

We recall that Čović, as former president of the Management Board of Croatian Post and Telecommunications (HPT), and members of the HPT Management Board Vladimir Šoljić, Matan Žarić, Neven Đukić, Ivan Baćak, and Slavica Josipović, as well as the former director of this company, Marinko Gilja, were accused of having committed the criminal offense of abuse of office in 1999, because with the intention of not settling a debt to the then Federal Ministry of Defense (FMO) in the amount of 4,674,059 BAM, they transferred these funds by assignment to the companies ''Hercegovina osiguranje'', ''Alpina Commerc'', and ''Croherc''.

They then settled the debts by selling ownership shares, which HPT, as the majority owner with a 51 percent share of the founding capital, held in the legal entity "Eronet" d.o.o. Mostar.
