Čović eternal optimist: Electoral law to be finalized in the first two months of 2024.

(Patria) - The Presidency of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) BiH held its eighth regular session today in Vitez.

The report and realization of program goals in the executive and legislative branches for 2023 were discussed.

The current political situation in BiH, and the activities of the executive and legislative authorities at all levels in BiH were topics on which the president of HDZ, Dragan Čović, informed the attendees.

The deputy president and chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, addressed the activities of the Council of Ministers of BiH, highlighting a series of activities, discussions, and efforts being made to reach an agreement in the spirit of fulfilling the 14 key priorities.

- Intensive political dialogue with mutual respect has no alternative in order to reach a final agreement and goal - Krišto said.

The deputy president of HDZ and Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister of the FBiH Government, Toni Kraljević, spoke about the Government's activities and steps regarding budget harmonization.

The Presidency discussed the next steps for the adoption of the Law on the Budget of BiH Institutions and International Obligations of BiH for 2024. It was also emphasized that dedicated work is necessary to fulfill the required reforms.

It was assessed that exceptional progress has been made and that all open challenges of BiH's 14 key priorities must continue to be actively resolved.

- We discussed what we did and managed to realize, which were our party's guidelines and plans for 2023.

We had reports from the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Parliamentary Assembly, the Government of the Federation, and Republika Srpska. The Presidency concluded that we have realized the largest part of what we set as our plan and task.

There are still things to be completed, budgets to be adopted at the BiH and Federation levels, which is our common interest - Čović told the media.

He also mentioned the Electoral Law, which is not yet in parliamentary procedure, but emphasized that this task will also be completed by the end of the first and second months, as it is one of the 14 conditions.

- There are still some technical details at the cantonal and entity levels that we have not fully realized and that we have agreed upon.

A joint session of the Presidency and the Main Council of the Croatian National Assembly of BiH and all officeholders was also agreed upon for January 22 next year, in order to discuss strategic issues and guidelines for action for 2024 - Čović concluded.
