Čović: I am convinced that Dodik will return from Israel on Friday

(Patria) - The President of HDZ BiH Dragan Čović was a guest on HRT's Dnevnik tonight, where he spoke about the current political crisis in BiH, as well as the overall situation regarding the president of RS Milorad Dodik.

When the host of the show remarked that Dodik had crossed the BiH border and gone to Belgrade, and then to Israel, Čović said that it was difficult to comment on this until a factual situation was established that border authorities in BiH were not functioning.

- Not only in this case, there have been other border crossings. This says enough about how BiH institutions function today.

I believe that Dodik will return to BiH from Israel on Friday, although there are many who would like him not to return. I am convinced that he will return - said Čović.

If he returns and is not apprehended, will an international warrant be issued, was one of the questions.

- This complicates everything greatly. BiH institutions are not functioning, from the judiciary to others. On the other hand, we must see through this what our judicial institutions will do.

I believe they will find new ways to reduce his room for maneuver. It would be logical for institutions where Dodik appears to issue warrants and they would have to act.

We must work through BiH institutions, the BiH Parliament, the Council of Ministers. We know that the BiH Presidency also does not act as an institution with its powers.

- Thirty years since Dayton, there have been such crises before. The problem here is not like the previous ones, this is one of those we did not expect with this intensity.
