(Patria) - Dragan Čović, the president of HDZ, said today after the session of the Presidency of that party in Ljubuški that he spoke with the first-instance convicted leader of the RS entity, Milorad Dodik.
- I spoke with Dodik after the verdict. I do not want to comment on it, as it is a first-instance verdict. We can comment on it when it becomes final, perhaps in about six months. I told Dodik that as well. Of course, I have a private opinion on it. When someone went to court, they accepted those rules, they accepted that court.
Bosnia and Herzegovina does not function as a perfect society, far from it. It is often not even a rule-of-law state as such.
However, we cannot in any way exempt ourselves from the processes we have in such an organized society, whether it concerns the prosecutor's office and the court, as well as all other institutions of BiH. Any other response is anarchy, and we do not need anarchy - said Čović.
He emphasized that "the integrity of individuals working in those institutions must be protected, and we must respect them, otherwise we do not respect the society we live in." He reiterated his earlier stated position that there is no abandonment of political partnerships.
- We continue partnerships. There are no new partnerships, no turning our backs. These challenges are not an ordinary crisis. Our people, from HDZ, who are in power, should not worry. We need to return to the framework of the constitution. We will continue to insist on the equality of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. That is one of our main goals this year - emphasized Čović.
He added that on Monday, March 3, a session of the Croatian National Assembly will be held.
- Then a session of the Main Council and the Presidency of the HNS will also be held, so we can exchange all these ideas with colleagues who form the structure of the Assembly with us. I am sure that in this way an adequate response to the expressed crisis can be found, in order to preserve these values that we as HDZ advocate for. Everyone is invited to the session.
Let everyone assess where their place is at this moment - said Čović, probably referring to the last session of the HNS when several member parties refused to participate.
He added that HDZ will hold a conversation with representatives of SNSD and put on the table everything that was agreed two years ago.
