Čović skips January 9th: Fear of Del Vecchio's dismissal or something else, awaiting Dodik's comment

Representatives of the Croatian Democratic Union, led by Dragan Čović, have not commented on January 9th, and unlike last year, they did not attend the parade and procession, nor the ceremonial academy.

Although they have not commented on why they did not support Milorad Dodik and his entourage as in previous years, the reasons should be sought in the fact that last year the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia decided to recall Ivan Del Vecchio from the position of Ambassador of Croatia to BiH, after he attended one of the events marking the unconstitutional Day of Republika Srpska.

Earlier, Croatian Foreign Minister Marija Pejčinović-Burić stated that Ivan Del Vecchio made the wrong decision and had a wrong assessment when he went to Banja Luka.
Del Vecchio went to Banja Luka with Dragan Čović, so it is evident that this time Čović considered the potential consequences. Especially now that Zoran Milanović has been elected as the head of Croatia.

No member of the HDZ leadership was seen at the ceremony. Let's recall that last year, along with Čović, high-ranking HDZ officials Vjekoslav Bevanda, Davor Čordaš, and several others were present.

It will be interesting to wait for the comment of Milorad Dodik, who is known as a great friend and ally of Čović.
